Projection is a powerful psychological force. One that has each of us subtly dumping, sliming, and spewing our own self-doubt, self-loathing, and insecurities onto those around us. When left unaddressed our lack of self-respect leaves a pretty massive wake — especially for those of us who are parents.

This is why self-compassion is a radically important endeavor. The layers of shame (subtle and severe) are endless. It is a beautiful life-long journey to learn how to truly love ourselves. The most potent place to start is taking a moment each day to appreciate something about yourself. For me this often means placing a hand on my chest and connecting to a feeling a love, then breathing that sensation throughout my body.

If you are having a hard time believing in yourself, find a friend or mentor or family member who can provide a few words of blessing about your unique gifts.

Do this today! The world needs your liberated heart.
